I have brought up arguments I've had on Fimfiction.net in the past and, if the author makes it clear the representation of the character's power in the story is how they genuinely think it lines up, then it's fair game.
Like this Bleach/MLP (Equestria Girls more specifically but the Ponies do get involved as well) one I used to read where the MLP downplay from the author was some of the most disingenuous denial shit I've ever seen.
Like Discord not being able to dodge because "he has no real combat experience" and "he's been hit in the show by Starlight (yet the much stronger Sombra couldn't hit him) and Chrysalis when she was massively amped on Grogar's magic" and so he gets "plot-speared" by a Chrysalis whose only upgrade was a Bakkoto.
Or Sun and Moon feats must be something other than raw power based (despite the show itself brutally shooting down any other viable conclusion) because "The Princesses lose to other characters who haven't done it and we never see anything else on that level".
And If the character wasn't an Alicorn or Royal Changeling, you can bet your ass they weren't doing anything to anyone of note, without recieving a fanfic power up first. STARLIGHT and TEMPEST were getting beaten down by an Equestrian villain's MINION for crying out loud.
It piled up into being a major reason i ended up dropping the story, despite how good it was. Well that and him warping Equestria into being a much darker universe to match the human/Bleach side, instead of leaving it as is to work as an effective contrast (which would have worked far better IMO).
I do remember a Chimera fight in the first book against a Percy who was barely starting to learn how to use his powers. I doubt very much that they scale to anything that would put the over their Fate counterparts.
