I think this can be excused because she was already thinking about how much she missed her brother (because she saw Rukia get saved by her brother) and so she's not really going to think all that through clearly when her brother seemingly walks through the door.

Never mind that I'm not sure she has all these mechanics down yet since she's only recently been introduced to them.

Yeah I get the point of those episodes (and they work well for what they're supposed to do) but like much of that arc, they drag out longer than they should have.

The Bount arc is still good shit despite this and it's the weakest of the filler arcs IMO.
 
Yeah, but Urahara explained that the only way to enter SS and leave is through the senkaimon. Plus the entire interaction just feels like plot convenience.

Agreed, they have their good points like showing Ichigo has a brain, and the puzzles are interesting. But seeing the characters running around without progressing for 3 episodes is getting boring.

Hm? I thought this was the Mod Soul arc seeing as how Lirin and the others are Mod Souls? Then again the ending has Jin Kariya in it soooooo.

He did but again, she was missing Sora that badly in that moment that it'd be unlikely that this would occur to her, at least not in time to actually do anything about it.

It works well enough for me.

Yep even as a fan of the Bount arc, I admit there's a reason it lasts 46 episodes and it's certainly not because it needed to, it does drag in places and this intro sequence with the Mod Souls is one of them.

I would stress though that once the Bounts themselves appear, it does start getting really good IMO with several of this arc's characters being borderline or outright top 10 worthy characters.

Hell this arc has Orihime's best scene and one of Chad's best scenes, it's funny how they only get a chance to shine in filler arcs.

No it's the Bount Arc, trust me on that one.
 
Watching the Episode while I type this, this episode definitely has Epcar actually make Yhwach sound less like Old Man Joseph and more actually sounding more like his own character... but still has bits of Old Man Joseph in there.
Again it's honestly fine and I heavily prefer it over the Japanese VA who as I said plenty of times makes him sound WAY too old for how he looks(He looks to be in his mid to late 40's, not 70-80 years old).
 
Okay, finally finished watching the English Dub of Episode 2, the actors have all definitely settled back in(which is definitely something considering it's been over a decade for most of them) which primarily fixes the main issues of Episode 1.

Haschwalth sounds haggered which I think actually works better for him considering his backstory and later character depth.
Quilge Opie more obviously stole the show with a phenomenal direction and casting and I would say he's honestly better than his Japanese Counterpart who now feels too hammy by comparison.
The Dub actually does make it clear during Quilge's rant before the Tres Bestia appeared that the Quincy Underlings actually DID rough up Menoly and Loly if you turn the volume up(I think you could barely hear it in Japanese but I may have to replay that episode).
Harribel's English VA did an okay job for ultimately at the moment a simple sentence.

Otherwise it was definitely a better showing and I'm looking forward to the Dub of alot of the other Sternritter.
 
Just finished Episode 6 and it's definitely the best episode in terms of substance.
While I wish they did something to give Yamamoto an actual last stand once he got his Bankai stolen, actually developing the history between Yhwach and Yamamoto through simply having them talk about the past and flashing between their younger selves is honestly a nice touch.

We also get a pretty decent fight scene with Yamamoto in Shikai and Yhwach before he goes Bankai and even a little more after that as well as showing the anguish Ryod!Yhwach is going through.
And then we get Uryu further getting the truth that the Quincy Extermination that happened 200 years ago wasn't the first, it was the 2nd and due to the Vandenreich book, gives an inflated tale of what happened and actually gives him some real doubts, further showing why he would join in the end.

10/10, It's honestly the best episode they did thus far.

EDIT: I forgot but they even including Aizen and Yhwach's talk and it heavily implies it would never work out between them(As they would basically gun for each other's throats) and the fact that Yhwach didn't kill him because it would take too long to do so or to actually restrain him in the end, which I believe he's more meaning Yamamoto would kill too many of his troops if he leaves him alone too long.

Honestly, I've been reading alone and I think I can agree with this take:

We actually SEE Yamamoto be prideful as fuck and arrogant as hell when he fights Ryod!Yhwach, literally dismissing the Quincy entirely that he killed while putting the Shinigami well above them, consistently going with the wrong fact that Yhwach and the others could only steal Bankai if they have enough info on it and going gung ho and basically salivating on Ryod!Yhwach's suffering.

This also makes sense why he just takes the hit and dies... he realized he fucked up and fell into pride and arrogance. He lost his Bankai and ultimately spat upon the sacrifice Sasakibe did while giving the Rebel Army their greatest weapon yet... he most likely lost the will to even live after that which is why he just accepted his fate rather than fight pointlessly to the end.

Amazing episode. Pacing was on-point. Aizen and Yhwach conversation was something I didn't know I wanted. Beautiful animation. CGI skeletons were only bad for the opening but just fine elsewhere. Best part has to be the transitions between 1000 years ago and the present. Really made the bad...

Yes!!!! Also an added bonus is this gets rid of anybody saying the SAFWY is canon as in there were some seals that were undone on Aizen in that novel. Ws all around boys

Considering this was one of the TWO moments in this arc that I was genuinely looking forward to seeing animated, it did well on that front.

Although even I have to say removing the flashback explaining Royd and Loyd's ability and the difference between them, was pretty damn stupid as this will perpetuate the myth Royd also copies powerlevels which he explicitly doesn't. It was also a much better way of revealing the twist that he wasn't the real Mustache than just having the real one turn up.

I did like that they showed Royd was powerful enough to disperse Yama's shikai flames, thus showing that he actually NEEDED to use his Bankai, unlike in the manga where that wasn't really clear. Royd got some huge gains in this episode (still don't think he beats any of the elite but him vs Gremmy).

I also get that they wanted to give Aizen screen time, but you'd think they'd use that scene to give us some kind of hint that Aizen used Kyouka Suigetsu there, considering this IS supposed to be when Mustache falls under it.

And yeah, I still think Yamamoto should have fought a bit harder after having his Bankai stolen but fuck it.
Yamamoto vs Royd is elevated to at least A decent fight now thanks to the new additions.
