What sort of contradictions do you expect to come from this?

Since Flower denied the idea I guess I can reveal what my methodology would've been.

I would've looked mostly for people trying to make it seem like they have a useless role when they don't.

It would've been easier for most to just give a neutral score (5 out of 10 or 3 out of 5) as that doesn't say much either way, but for people who go out of their way to give intentionally low scores they would have to act consistent with that and show consistent disappointment at their supposed "uselessness". And I thought it wouldn't be so easy to fake that.

Once D3 starts and the restriction is lifted we are going to get a lot of roleclaiming I imagine. So that would've also gone to show how fake or genuine people's initial ratings were.

I've got an idea for an interesting experiment I would like to get your approval for before going ahead with.

Given its favorites every role in this game is probably a power role to varying degrees so people saying how happy they are with the role they were given shouldn't be too revealing.

So I would like everyone to rate how happy they are with the role they received from a 1 to a 10 scale (or a 1 to 5 scale if that's too broad). If we have that as a baseline we can see how it gets contradicted later, and try to determine what's the reason for the contradictions

I appreciate you and kinda understand what you're doing but people can easily bluff about the strength of their role (or the opposite.)

This kind of observation is probably left as a last resort end game tactic imho
You're gonna need a few clips because that's when you can review whether there's inconsistencies and contradictions from surviving players etc etc imo.

So let's say someone gives a 7/10, and then later they claim and their role seems fairly weak. How do you reconcile that from the 7/10?

The problem here Xenos, is that you're asking for a subjective measure to provide an objective result, which doesn't really work. The risk of course is outing powerful roles, and lying about the power of one's role isn't something that only scum have incentive to do. Hence why it's not a great idea to implement.

For what it's worth I don't see Xenos' post as intrinsically scummy. I find it hard to reconcile that a scum player would think the best way for him to enter the thread will be to role fish, quite blatantly. It was probably a genuine discussion point he wanted to raise, it was simply ill-advised.

Ultra's entrance seemed genuine, but he barely said anything anyway. Xenos points seem almost too innocent, but I don't know his experience level.

It seems pretty much everyone came into this game with a lighthearted attitude and that's gonna make it harder to spot scum just from behavior.

I don’t know you (hello btw) but this reads to me as potential fake manufactured scum content and highly recommend you do something relevant instead

If i'm being honest I almost always view D1 as a complete crapshoot.

In my experience it's usually just a mess of policy lynches, grudge votes from past games, and other votes with no real reasoning behind them as there isn't yet anything to build reasoning off of. So, It's difficult if not nigh impossible to nail a scum with the D1 lynch.

But what D1 is good for is seeing how people establish themselves. No one can act "out of character" if they don't have a baseline play-style people expect from them. I wanted to add to that baseline so we'd have even more info to work with, but I guess there are no easy shortcuts that don't come with their own risks...

Depending on how their passives work, powerful townies could've also used it to lay traps for scum and claim their role is powerful to intentionally draw aggro.

But yeah, I do see now that the potential for false positives would be high and the risk probably wouldn't be worth the reward.

I've been town in every game i've been with you in and the only game people were generally viewing scummy was the one where I started out by Hard RPing and then stopped because it was confusing people.

Xenos is also relatively new I believe, so likely just didn't think it all the way through.

Not exactly. I played a lot of Mafia a few years ago (mostly in the OBD rather than the mafia section) and then had a hiatus where I didn't play for a while. So I'm not completely inexperienced, at most just rusty on some stuff.
