At long last, there appeared to be a breakthrough in the case. An idol turned actress, who had completed several pro-Kira interviews even before he became widely-accepted, she at the very least fit the profile of an accomplice.

The breakthrough came when investigators discovered that some police officers from the early days of the case had leaked information to her camp - surely, this was the police connection that L had identified.

"You don't understand! I just want to meet him! I love Kira!"

Her protests were ignored, and she was placed under 24/7 surveillance in an undisclosed location.

Of course, the killings continued throughout the night. As the clock struck midnight, the surveillance team logged an urgent request for help. Out of nowhere, the suspect had writhed in pain before collapsing. They didn't even need to inspect the body to know what had happened.

Misa Amane had died of a heart attack.

After the chaos lading well into the night, L, once confirming the death of Misa Amane with his trusted aide Watari, had gone for a walk outside. There was one store he liked to visit occasionally, in no small part thanks to the check-outs being automated. A particular feature he had noted was a statue just outside of it, apparently still under construction. He had, on one evening, done some digging on this statue, which depicted the most beloved Mayor of the coastal town he was currently staying in. He would have to move soon - probably to the Kanto region.

L had felt a strange sense of finality all day long. Every little thing he had done, he found himself thinking he may not get to do it again after this. Perhaps inspired by this feeling, in addition to his canned coffee that he had come for, he decided to pick up a bag of candied sweets. As he walked out of the store, sweet in hand, he found his body uncooperative. Thinking it a stroke of some sort initially, he realised that it wasn't that he couldn't move his body, it was that his perception of time had slowed to such an extent that it felt like his body wasn't moving at all. As if a sixth sense had kicked in, he gazed up to the statue outside, to see it growing in size before his eyes, as it begun its decent upon him. In his final moments, L realised one thing.

He had lost.

In the morning, the investigators went back into the room as usual. The rain crashed against the windows outside. As usual, they were greeted by the sight of a solemn, older man, stood next to two computer screens. Except, there was a difference this time. The screen in the middle now displayed N instead of L, and the other screen was switched off. As if sensing the question before it was asked, the N screen spoke.

"L is dead. Kira got him. In the end, L simply wasn't good enough. He was just another loser in this game."

The investigators remaining didn't have words to retaliate with.

"I understand if you want to leave. You'll all be compensated extremely well for your time and services. I've already had Watari prepare an allocation of L's fortune to each of you, for your families and their future. If you walk back out of that door and into the rain now, none of that will change. However-"

N paused, as if taking the measure of the room.

"I will soon become the next L. And if you are still driven by the same motivation that brought you here - the desire to put an end to this childish criminal, then you may stay. I have no idea how he got to L. I can't guarantee your safety. That's all."

No one left the room. Regardless of what may transpire, they were there unto the end.

With despair having set in, there was a sense of futility in even bothering to continue catching Kira. The room was mostly silent for the day, aside from a few awkward attempts to break the frosty atmosphere.

Towards the end of the day, one investigator proposed that, maybe, he was Kira all along, and just didn't know it. Mogi looked the simple type, but with no better leads, there was nothing more to it. He would be in confinement until it was all over which, if the current atmosphere was anything to go by, would be soon.

The night passed in no time at all, and the team once again went to another long day of tryng and failing to catch a killer that could not be caught. Once they arrived, though, there was a commotion outside of their HQ.

On the fencing around the building, a young boy, with snow-white hair, appeared to have jumpd off the building and impaled himself upon it. which had pierced straigh through his heart. The corpse was still warm, indicating it had only happened recently. Most disturbingly, however, was the deranged grin on the boy's face, as if he had been in ecstasy.

After checking the possessions on the body, and confirming with the old man who had been there every day, they confirmed that boy was in fact the detective they'd known as N. Apparently, L had died with a similar expression on his face.

Relief, ultimately, was felt by them all. At long last, they no longer had to suspect each other.

An aged man spoke out to one of the youngest members of their team.

"Hey, Light. Don't let this get you down. You'll be one of the very best. Good job, son."
"Thanks, Dad."

Given how evidently deranged both L and N were, the deduction that Kira must hve been amongst them was probably just a delusion. Looking back, this ending made the most sense, anyway. A killer that can kill, with only a name and a face? Nonsense. One who can do that can only be described as God. And even if it is the work of a human, if the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th greatest detectives in the world were driven to lunacy, what hope did they have? Was it ever really possible to catch Kira?



The man looked back for his son, one last time, perhaps to bring a sense of closure to the whole episode. Once he did, though, he felt his heart quiver. As he looked into the eyes of his son, and the demonic grin that was plastered on his face, he knew. L was right all along. But it was too late. Even if he had the will to arrest him, his body would not obey him, and the words would never be uttered. It was, after all, already written.

That night, surrounded by his immediately family, Soichiro Yagami died of a heart attack.

Savage - Kill Kira. "Kira" is defined as any player that is currently possessed by a Shinigami. Ths does not require them to be actively using a death note.
One-Shot Killer - You may kill a player a night. In the event that you are killed in the same night, your kill will resolve first. After your kill has resolved, you will be removed from the game. If you manage to kill Kira, you will be declared victorious (this will not end the game unless it would result in parity for the Mafia, in which case the Mafia and you would win). If you kill anyone that isn't "Kira", you will lose the game. During LyLo, your kill ability will change to an execute. This will replace the lynch. To execute a player, you must type in the thread "Execute: Player". Once typed, this cannot be revoked.

As Kira, a title you quickly adopted once the word of your mass killings had spread, you resolved to create a world free of all crime, with you the centrepiece to lead the masses forward. You have now reached a pivitol moment in your grand cause. Soon, the world will accept Kira as its only ruler, with many countries having already bent the knee. Your influence and power has proven to be a machine nigh unstoppable, aside from just one remaining obstacle. For should L, the world's greatest detective, and his successor N, prove unable to stop you... nothing will.

Mafia - Eliminate L Lawliet ("L") and Nate River ("N"). You are told that both of those characters are Lynchpins, and once dead, the Mafia will be declared vicorious regardless of how many Town votes remain in play.
Restricted Hitman - Every Night Phase, you may attempt to kill a player. To kill a player, you must list out their "name" (their character/flavour name) and their "face" (their username). For example, "Kill: Ratchet (Light Yagami)". If both the name and the face match correctly, that player will be killed. You may choose the manner of their death, though this will only effect flavour.
