I expect he will claim, I also think he's treading water (which is what I said originally), presumably out of being frustrated scum. The overall point that I'm making, in case it still isn't clear, is that his reaction strikes me as more likely to come from him as scum, vs him being town. You say he would understand the optics, which I agree with, but that's what happened anyway, so if he's town you're suggesting he plays it like this in full knowledge that it can worsen his position. It's not really how I view his mindset as town.
