Just reading scum chat, and someone gave me shit for this take (Maybe it was Gram don't remember) but I think it somewhat validates my standpoint
I think fake claiming as scum can be rough enough in highly tailored games and the flavor shit shouldn't be an extra layer of consideration on top. Why I removed descriptions from my last set up and focused on the WU's. Don't think anyone should be in a position where they have to worry about x character fitting Y role, it's not an element of skillful play that should make a difference. Also helps on the host side to throw in a couple of curveballs and not fit town roles so neatly to characters as well.

Bad setup. My fake claim had been outed as scum before I'd even claimed it so I couldn't claim it. Half my team was dead so had to do something and made a fair assumption (as was pointed out by town players) that cop was safe as we only had 4 players and no godfather, couldn't really pivot after aurelian claimed a cop shot and ekko flipped hider.
I don't really care if it's ranked since town did a good job but not really an enjoyable experience to play a game that magic has openly admitted to making easy mode just so town could have a win.
Won't be playing another game where there's a risk of being punished just for being a certain alignment.

Not saying you didn't, just that I think on general maybe we should start moving towards stripping those elements out of roles since it's an unfortunate sticking point. Shouldn't have players try to shark people with "cAn YoU PaRApHrAsE FlAvOr" and players should get accustomed to expecting that roles don't always have to fit character overall

Trying to fit a fake claim into a flavour you know nothing about is a ballache and actively takes away from the experience

The kill choices were why I was so intent on RDK not being scum. It’s funny because when fang claimed cop I immediately didn’t buy it, then when RDK claimed cop I did. Pretty much cos I didn’t think he’d allow such shit kills

Nah flavour makes knowing the theme fun. I like it. Can make it meaningless or even state you can't claim flavour if you want though.
Speaking of which, everyone really needs to stop using host communication in games and doing in game requests from hosts. It is angle shooting every time whether intentional or not.
People do get accustomed to flavor and use it to shamelessly solve though, and I do believe most hosts are somewhat predictable to some degree so it feeds into players relying on that stuff. Maybe I'll become totally chaotic in this regard.

Just give scum full fakes with fake role PMs. Can be of varying strength but if you write flavour it allows you to be both creative with that and also cover you bases.
A simple disclaimer that flavour is mostly meaningless and that some roles may tie in, others won’t is usually enough to get the effect you’re looking for
Nobody even played a Magic game before, so not like it played a big part in game solving. And every other scum other than Relo had decent fakes after he was out.
